Sampling Elton John tunes (in this case 1972’s “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters”, 1973’s “Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding” and 1976’s “Tonight”) for use in a fist-pumping summer club anthem only seems obvious now; “Good Morning To The Night” makes transforming ‘70s EJ into club music seem long overdue. Clocking in at an angeringly brief three and a half minutes, “GMTTN” features Pnau’s trademark swirly synths, crisp, clean guitars and a badass build and release. What’s more is that this is only the first installment in what’ll eventually be an entire Pnau album of remixed and reimagined EJ tunes.
